Interactive Image
- The contrast between important areas is sufficient: at least 3:1.
- Text is inserted as such and is not integrated as a graphic.
- Overlay images are not used.
All criteria for images and graphics apply. Further information on this can be found in the manual entry on Images and Graphics . To ensure that interactive content is accessible, the displayed content must not close automatically after a certain time.
Overlay images cannot be opened using the keyboard and are therefore not accessible to people with visual or motor impairments. In addition, they can only be explored with the mouse if the image area of overlay images is identical to the trigger area. However, this is important for people with visual impairments who view courses with a large magnification.
Barriers of the Interactive Image- If the course is operated using the keyboard, the clickable areas of interactive images are only reached at the end. This does not correspond to the visible sequence and can confuse users of assistive technologies (such as screen readers).
- No alternative text can be added for the background image and overlay images.
Criteria for displayed Content
- No disappearance after a certain time
- Can be closed without moving the focus (for example via the escape key or a confirmation via the same element for opening)
- explorable with the mouse = content does not disappear when the mouse moves over it
Markup of Interactive Image
Due to the numerous barriers, interactive images should not be used! If their use cannot be avoided, at least only content pop-ups should be used, as these have fewer barriers than overlay images.
