Full-Text Alternative
The following criteria are taken from the checklist:- For information-bearing visual video content, an audio description or full-text alternative is provided.
A full text alternative (transcription) alone is not sufficient to fully comply with the legal recommendations for accessible videos. However, if it is not possible to provide captions and/or an audio description, transcripts can still provide access to videos for people with visual or hearing impairments. Transcripts are also a media alternative to silent videos and animations.
Create Video Transcription
- Complete description of all visual content (visual context, actions and expressions of the people)
- Reproduction of all dialogs
- Description of non-speech sounds, for example laughter
- Further information can be found in the guidebook entry for transcripts of the Web Accessibility Initiative
Embed Transcription
The manual entry for audio elements already contains instructions for embedding transcriptions. The process there is the same as for video transcriptions: Instructions for embedding transcriptions
