Cross-references

The following criteria are taken from the checklist:

• Cross-references are understandable even without specific sensory perceptions such as color, shape or position.

Cross-references are links or references in a text that point to other sections of the same document or external sources. They make it easy to find relevant information or discover further content.

Cross-references

To create accessible cross-references, you should make sure that they are not only based on visual features such as color, shape or position.

Positive examples: "As illustrated in Figure 3…", "As described in chapter 'Background' (p.8) ..."

Negative examples (not accessible): "In the illustration on the left...", "As described above..."
